Cocaine driver chased through Bolton before crashing

A main road in Bolton town centre had to be shut last night after a 'drug driver' smashed their car in a crash after a chase.

Trinity Street was closed at the junction with Moor Lane outside Mecca Bingo and Grosvenor Casino with traffic lights also damaged in the crash.

The crash happened in the early hours of this morning (August 25) with this section of the road closed for a number of hours.

Police spotted a black Vauxhall Corsa in Astley Bridge where it failed to stop for officers.

It was chased through Bolton into Trinity Street where it crashed.

The driver of the car was detained by police and would subsequently fail a drugs test for cocaine, officers said.

A GMP Traffic spokesman said: "The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa failed to stop for officers in Astley Bridge, it was pursued through Bolton where it then crashed on Trinity Street.

"The driver was detained and would subsequently fail a drugs test for cocaine."
